Taking Work Home: Should You Get Paid?

The officer who first filed the case says he should be paid overtime for the time he spends on his work cell phone after hours.
A federal court in Chicago recently approved the class action, which could attract as many as 200 Chicago officers who say they used their smartphones for email and phone calls related to the police department.
The Chicago Police Department has responded to the claims, saying many of the activities 'off the clock' could have easily been held off until the next shift.
