Police in DeKalb County and Steuben County are cracking down on meth use.

The counties are among with worst in the state for meth use.

The effort is a team up with the Indiana department of child services.

DeKalb and Steuben are both battling a high number of meth users and labs.

Steuben County Sheriff Tim Troyer tells WFFT that it's worse in Steuben County. He says it's also the most dominant illegal drug in the county.

Meanwhile, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department says they believe meth is the single most-addictive illegal drug in the U.S.

He says 70 meth labs were seized in the county last year. DeKalb County seized 41.

Police also say that children's safety is also compromised. They say they're not only exposed to harmful chemicals but also the possibility of a fire or explosion.

Police say they rely heavily on support and information provided by citizens.
They're encouraging community members to report any suspected meth production or use.

Anyone suspecting abuse or neglect is asked to contact the child abuse and neglect hotline at 260-925-3365.
