Ron Howard Named to NBA D-League All-Star Team

FORT WAYNE, IN (February 4, 2013)-- The NBA Development League announced today that Mad Ants veteran guard, Ron Howard, has been selected to play in the seventh annual NBA D-League All-Star Game on Saturday, February 16, at Sprint Arena at NBA All-Star Jam Session at Houston's George R. Brown Convention Center. The game will air live on NBA TV at 3 p.m. ET. This is Howard's second time receiving this honor--he was named to the NBA D-League All-Star team during the 2009-10 season as well.

 

Howard is averaging 18.2 points, 4.6 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game for the Mad Ants in 20 games this season. He is a league leader in free throw percentage, shooting 86% from the stripe. He recorded a season high 30 points on December 21st against the Maine Red Claws.

 

Howard will play on the "Futures" team with Arinze Onuaku (Canton Charge); Courtney Fortson (Los Angeles D-Fenders); Micah Downs (Maine Red Claws); Shelvin Mack (currently a  member of the Philadelphia 76ers); DaJuan Summers (Maine Red Claws); Chris Wright (Maine Red Claws); Jerome Jordan (Reno Bighorns); Marcus Landry (Reno Bighorns); Jeremy Lamb (Tulsa 66ers). The team will be led by Red Claws head coach Mike Taylor and his staff.

The IPFW women's softball team are headed to the NCAA tournament after beating South Dakota state 7 to 4 today.

Infielder Ashley Bousquet also became IPFW's all time softball hits leader and head coach Amy Tudor became the winngiest coach in program history.

Fort Wayne, IN --- Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry today presented legendary Fort Wayne Komets broadcaster Bob Chase with a "Key to the Fort" award at a ceremony in the Mayor's office.

Family, friends, and representatives from the Fort Wayne Komets and WOWO Radio attended today's event.

TinCaps Shut Out in Peoria

Peoria, IL - Peoria Chiefs pitcher Tyrell Jenkins needed no help Sunday afternoon, limiting the Fort Wayne TinCaps to only three hits, as he pitched a complete game shutout, leading his team to a 1-0 win. The scoreless defeat marked the first time in 2013 that the TinCaps have been shut out.
