USF junior named All-Crossroads League 1st Team

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - University of Saint Francis junior Scott Kohne and sophomore Josh Hogan earned All-Crossroads League recognition in selections announced after voting by the 10 head coaches.


Kohne (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Dwenger H.S.) was an All-CL first-team selection and CL All-Defense Team selection. Hogan (Merrillville, IN / Merrillville H.S.) was a third-team selection, senior guard Kevin Bloom (Wolcottville, IN / East Noble H.S.) was honorable mention and freshman Kyle Sovine (New Haven, IN / New Haven H.S.) was named to the CL All-Freshman Team.

Kohne, a 6-foot-7 forward, was a two-time CL Player of the Week who tied the league lead in double-doubles (17), led the conference in blocked shots with 55, finished second in points scored (580), second in rebounds per game (10.3), total rebounds by one (310), third in scoring average (19.3 ppg), and sixth in field goal percentage (.510). Kohne scored 20 or more points in 12 games, 30 or more in two games with a high of 33 (Point Park, 11/17/12). He scored in double figures in the last 17 games and in 29 of 30 games this season.

He connected on double figure field goals in five games with a best of 14 at Point Park. Kohne had 17 double figure rebound games, four double figure defensive rebounds games (high of 15, Huntington, 1/19/13) and a season single-game high 19 rebounds (HU, 1/19/13). He had nine games with three or more blocked shots posting a high of seven at Spring Arbor (11/27/12).

Hogan played in 30 games, started 13, and averaged 10.5 points per game, No. 2 on the Cougars behind Kohne. He led USF in steals with 36 and was No. 2 in 3-point field goals made with 29. Hogan scored in double figures in 11 of his last 14 games, 15 game total, and scored 20 or more points in three games with a season and career high of 25 (Indiana Wesleyan, 1/15/13). He tied for 12th in steals (20 total, 1.1 per game).

Bloom led USF in 3-pointers made with 47 and his .405 3-point field goal percentage was No. 9 in the CL. Sovine played in 23 games and averaged 3.2 points a game. He scored in double figures twice with a high of 14 (Goshen, 1/26/13) and shot .544

The IPFW women's softball team are headed to the NCAA tournament after beating South Dakota state 7 to 4 today.

Infielder Ashley Bousquet also became IPFW's all time softball hits leader and head coach Amy Tudor became the winngiest coach in program history.

Peoria, IL - Peoria Chiefs pitcher Tyrell Jenkins needed no help Sunday afternoon, limiting the Fort Wayne TinCaps to only three hits, as he pitched a complete game shutout, leading his team to a 1-0 win. The scoreless defeat marked the first time in 2013 that the TinCaps have been shut out.
