MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State senior guard Jauwan Scaife was selected Monday as the Mid-American Conference West Division Co-Player of the Week for men's basketball.

The Muncie native averaged 22.0 points per game last week, helping the Cardinals to a split of two conference games.

Scaife poured in 23 points and added four assists Wednesday in a 56-52 road victory at Northern Illinois. He connected on 9 of 10 free throws, including 7 of 8 in the second half and 4 of 4 in the final 35 seconds of a tight game.

He then scored 21 points Saturday against Eastern Michigan for his third straight 20-point game.

Scaife averaged nearly 42 percent of Ball State's points for the week as he upped his scoring average to 18.3 points per game in MAC play, which ranks third in the league.

Scaife shares this week's honor with Shayne Whittington of Western Michigan. It marks the fifth time this season a Cardinal has been honored by the league office. Majok Majok and Jesse Berry have each earned player-of-the-week accolades twice.
