4 Lady Cougars, Coach Andrews awarded 2012-13 Crossroads League honors

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Four different University of Saint Francis women's basketball team members have been selected for All-Crossroads League recognition along with USF Head Coach Gary Andrews.
Senior guards Kayla Drake and Meghan Slusher, along with junior guard Skylarr Shurn were named to the All-CL team and Brooke Ridley was selected CL Freshman of the Year. Andrews, in his 12th season, was named the first CL Coach of the Year, after guiding the Lady Cougars to their first conference title since 2005-06. It is the second COTY award for Andrews, who earlier this season picked up his 250th win. USF won a record number of conference games finishing 16-2 this season.
Drake (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo H.S.) is a first-team selection who led the CL in steals per game (3.3) and total steals (99). She holds five NAIA Top 50 (Div. II) rankings - No. 3 in steals, No. 7 in steals per game, No. 19 in points scored (481), No. 25 in free-throw percentage (.818) and No. 40 in points per game (16.0). She finished No. 3 in CL scoring, No. 2 in league play only points per game (17.5). She scored in double figures in 23 of 30 games.
Shurn (Kokomo, IN / Kokomo H.S.) was chosen to the second team after finishing second in CL shooting percentage (.502), free-throw shooting percentage (.861), and fifth in scoring with a 14.7 average. She scored 25 to lead USF to a 62-55 upset win over No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan University in January and earned a CL Player of the Week nod. She scored in double figures in her first 21 games playing for USF and in 26 of 30 games. Shurn is No. 8 in NAIA in free-throw percentage, No. 22 in field goal percentage and No. 41 in points scored (441).
Ridley (Ft. Wayne, IN/ Bishop Luers H.S.) shattered the USF single-season record for blocked shots (82) and set a single-game record with eight against IWU on 1/16/13. She tied the record earlier in the season twice with seven. Ridley is No. 3 in NAIA blocks, No. 8 in blocks per game. She averaged 10.3 points per game overall and averaged 6.4 rebounds per game, ninth in the CL.
