Indiana Attorney General Seeks Suspension of Local Doctor

The Indiana Attorney General is asking for suspension of a Fort Wayne pain doctor's medical license.
Attorney General Greg Zoeller calls Doctor Will Hedrick "dangerous."
Zoeller's office accuses Hedrick of over prescribing prescription drugs.
Zoeller's office filed a petition with the state medical licensing board to suspend doctor Hedrick's medical license for ninety days.
He's also facing a lawsuit from the former CEO of his medical practice with claims he violated state and federal law, and engaged in unethical medical practice.
Doctor William Hedrick is the founder of Fort Wayne-based Centers for Pain Relief.
Today, the Indiana Attorney General's office filed for a ninety day suspension of his medical license.
Greg Zoeller's office accuses Doctor Hedrick of excessive use of pain killing drugs, and of unsafe mixing of drugs.
In a statement released Monday, a spokesperson from Zoeller's office says, "Evidence reveals that Doctor Hedrick poses a clear danger to his patients and the public."
In the filing, Zoeller's office says, "Numerous patients receiving treatment... Have died from multiple drug toxicity while in the care of (Doctor Hedrick)."
We called the Centers for Pain Relief- the person answering the phone declined to comment.
Last week, the former CEO of Centers for Pain Relief Matthew Cavacini filed a lawsuit against doctor Hedrick.
He says Doctor Hedrick prescribed narcotics to patients who had failed drug tests.
Cavacini's lawsuit also alleges he signed blank prescriptions for use when he was out of the office, and attempted to influence coroner records to hide medical issues of deceased patients.
Cavacini, resigned from the practice in October.
The Medical Licensing Board of Indiana will consider the petition on Thursday.
If accepted, the board would suspend doctor Hedrick for ninety days, while the Attorney General's Office prepares a formal complaint.
Doctor Hedrick has counter-sued the former CEO, calling the claims 'false.'
In his filing, he calls the suit a 'conspiracy theory,' and claims Cavacini plans to open a competing medical practice.
