IPFW honored local breast cancer survivors at the sixth annual pink-out game. The survivors were honored at the IPFW girls  basketball game this afternoon.

The battle between the IPFW girls basketball team and South Dakota University was nothing compared to the fight the women at today's game have faced for years.

"I was diagnosed 15 years ago and I'm lucky that I survived," said Nicki Luginbill, a cancer survivor.

"I got cancer back in September," said Melissa Huffman, a cancer survivor.

IPFW honored local breast caner survivors during half-time, recognizing their strength and courage.

"Everyday I wake up and I'm grateful to be here and I live everyday likes its my last," said Luginbill.

Huffman was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  She got to walk out on the court today with her daughter, a moment she says she will never forget.

"My daughter is a cheerleader here so it meant a lot to me to walk with her and tears filled my eyes," said Huffman.

The survivors we spoke with say they feel a sense of community when they come together with other women who are also fighting cancer.

"You feel like you are not alone.  It makes you eel that there are other people going through the same situation that you are and they made it and so can you," said Huffman.

"Nobody is alone in their struggles through being diagnosed from going through chemotherapy and radiation," said Luginbill

The lady 'Dons were able to win on the court, but they weren't the only ones who walked away with a victory
