Indiana Utility Regulators have released the second and final part of an audit of Aqua Indiana's problems. The state's biggest concern: that aqua couldn't provide enough pressure to fight fires.

The audit states, "Improvements are needed to avoid compromising the fire flow available to utility center customers". Fort wayne utility manager Ted Nitza said the audit supports the city's plan to take over Aqua.

"The audit certainly reinforances the same principles.. the same reasoning that the mayor has announced an effort to condem those same water utility assests serving the southwestern areas of Fort Wayne..," said Nitza

But Aqua Indiana president tom bruns interprets the audit differently.

"Were very pleased with the results we think the commissioner and consultant both found our response to the very difficult situation the drought of 2 thousand 12 were in keeping with the industy stanards. We did notice a couple of issues that were of concern..," said President Tom Bruns.

Bruns also said the utility will be able to provide enough water to fight fires.

"The commission has asked us if we look at connections in the future for fort wayne that we be prepared to address the issues of fire protection and make sure that things are done differently or that there are multiple scenes into the area served so theres no question of fire protection being available."

However, the city isn't budging on its plan to take over the troubled utility.

"It clearly demonstrates that aqua indiana acting on their own or trying to solve the problems by themselves is no longer an accepted solution," said Nitza.
