Thousands joined the campaign today to turn Fort Wayne pink. The Vera Bradley foundations kick-off featured a proclamation by Mayor Henry. And many participants added pink to their wardrobes. From pink shirts to pink sweaters pink bags and pink jerseys pink was certainly the color of the day here in Fort Wayne. This is the 11th year the Vera Bradley foundation has been raising money for breast cancer research. So far over 10 million dollars has been raised. Mayor Henry also noted that "what started off as something small has turned into something seen nationwide.”Pink ribbons were sold for $5. All ribbons honor someone affected by breast cancer. And all proceeds will go towards finding a cure. So with pink on the mind and body, it was a successful day for breast cancer. If youd like to find out more information on the Vera Bradley Breast Cancer Foundation or how you can donate money, head to turnthetownpink.org.
