4-H Partners with Food Bank

By: FOX Fort Wayne News
Updated: June 9, 2009
The 2009 Allen County 4-H county livestock auction has partnered with the Community Harvest Food Bank, and the Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry organization. At the auction this year, young people have the opportunity to sell their animals. The Community Harvest asks that buyers donate the livestock they purchase to the food bank. This is all part of an effort to curb hunger amidst current economic hardship. Jane Avery, Executive Director of Community Harvest says “There is such great need in the 9 counties that we serve. And it is so important that everyone ask, what can I do?” The auction will take place on July 27th. For information on how you can donate or get involved call (260) 447-3696 or visit http://www.communityharvest.org/pages/
