“We’re really going to focus on our used inventory and I think were going to be renaming ourselves ‘Tomkinson Auto Land’ for that used car business” says General Manager, J.R. Tomkinson. Its official; Chrysler now has the go ahead to terminate nearly 800 of its dealers, including Tomkinson Dodge here in Fort Wayne. "Weve actually been preparing for that for weeks not; hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst” says Tomkinson. This preparation is evident by the number of new dodge cars left. “Were not going to be stuck with them” notes Tomkinson. As of this evening just three vehicles remain. Todd Wellman stopped by the dealership today and had his eye on a 2009 Dodge Ram. “There were alot more cars out here last week and I know alot of the good ones are already gone, so I think theres a few more out here that should be gone pretty soon” says Wellman Other things that are expected to be gone soon include all signs and logos. “We still have the dodge name and logos all over everything. Changing all of that over is going to take a little bit of time but were in the process of doing that now” says Tomkinson. Tomkinson also says theyre in the process of discussing the future of their employees saying “were discussing a plan to keep everyone employed for years to come.” Now that the orders been made and franchises will be terminated a question remains: “Will Tomkinson continue to pursue legal actions?” "Were going to continue to pursue the avenues that we have, but right now it looks like those are pretty limited” remarks Tomkinson.
