Construction is now underway on another part of the Downtown Revitalization. Todays ground breaking kicks off development of the Courtyard Marriot Hotel and Champion Sports Bar. The two additions will neighbor Parkview Field. Due to the economic downturn, this day has been three years in the making. Deno Yiankee, the President and CEO of Investment and Development of White Lodging Services, says trucks and bulldozers are already at work. He expects the hotel to be open in later August of next year. The Hotel and Bar are part of the $120 million being spent on revamping Downtown. When finished, the hotel will have 250 guest rooms. The hotel and bar are expected to create around 100 jobs.
