Some laid-off teachers from Fort Wayne Community Schools are feeling a glimmer of hope about regaining their jobs.
Earlier this year, Fort Wayne Community Schools laid off 108 teachers, much more than expected. That's because district officials thought they'd have to fork out around six million dollars for utilities and insurance from the general fund.
However, under the new state budget, they're still allowed to tap into the capital projects fund.
But while that issue is gone, the district isn’t making any callbacks yet.
One laid-off teacher, Fabiana Dickson, spoke with FOX Fort Wayne. She hopes a callback will come soon. To hear from Dickson, click on the video.
