Jerod Gerken is suspected of being responsible for Monday’s pharmacy robberies. There have been over 11 Oxycontin robberies in the last year in Fort Wayne. A man walks up to the pharmacy window and passes the pharmacist a note. The note demands the drug Oxycontin be put in a brown paper sack. He then walks off with the drugs. Monday morning there was one attempted robbery and one successful robbery. The successful robbery took place at the Kroger on Dupont Road. Mike Joyner, Fort Wayne Police Departments Public Information Officer, says “Information that was gathered by witnesses and victims of that particular incident were able to supply investigators with some concrete info for us to go by to develop a suspect." Tuesday morning, Fort Wayne police announced they had found and arrested Gerken. Joyner says “Gerken was stopped at a traffic stop and brought in for questioning for the involvement of a robbery which happened yesterday morning.” Police think Gerken could be involved in as many as 11 other unsolved pharmacy robberies. Currently, Gerken is being held in the Allen County Jail awaiting formal charges.
