Did you know a giraffe is six feet when its born or that every zebra has different stripes much like human fingerprints? The Taylor family now does after visiting the new African Journey at the Fort Wayne Childrens Zoo. “Were in town two weeks and be here at least twice” says Janet Taylor. The Taylors are visiting from New Jersey. Coming to Fort Wayne is an annual affair for them. “We come here like every year” adds Abby Taylor. Zoo Director Jim Anderson says the increase in attendance is up close to 24-percent from last year. “This may be our best year ever” says Anderson. New attractions, new venues, and many more people "stay-cationing" have lead to a jump in attendance at many Fort Wayne destinations. “Its a stay-at-home vacation year” says Anderson. Plus Mother Nature is certainly owed some thanks. “The weather this summer has been awesome” says Anderson. He adds that on a rainy day, the zoo gets about 4-hundred visitors compared to 4-thousand. There are over 3-hundred discounts available for Indiana attractions, restaurants and hotels. To get your hands on those discounts head to www.visitindiana.com
