The “Cash for Clunkers” program looked like it might run out of gas. Some reports suggested it had been suspended. But those proved to be premature.

Despite earlier concerns about money running out, it will continue for the time being. The House approved a bill Friday that would give the program another $2 billion. The Senate is expected to look at the issue next week.

Dealers across the country are reporting a surge in car sales thanks to the program.  But many dealers are worried Washington won't have the money to reimburse them. There is currently a nationwide backlog to file for dealers to be reimbursed.
