The sun was out in full force. Playgrounds were empty. And the city fountains were surely being taking advantage of. “Playing in the water” was the overwhelming response kids had on what they were doing to beat the heat today. After the coolest July on record, temperatures hit the mid-80s today. That’s about ten degrees above the high that we saw last year. “I said its so hot today, kids, you get to play in the fountain” says Fort Wayne resident Kristen Rossi. Justin Bartlett has had enough of the heat. He says he needs “a little break from it, this week has been pretty rough.” Michelle Tribett, however, can’t get enough of the hot weather. “We actually enjoy the hot weather so were not trying to escape from it that much” Tribett says. Yet some dont even have the choice to escape from the heat, even if they wanted to. “Its hard out here working in this” says construction worker Tony Schauer. Imagine working in steel-toed boots, jeans, and shirts with at least a 4-inch sleeve. Construction workers battled the heat today, but most dont seem to mind the hot weather. “The majority of the guys would rather be out here earning the pay check then sitting at home in the air conditioning because its too hot to work” adds Schauer.
