Fort Wayne is taking the battle over the city light lease to the next step.

The city has issued a letter of default to Indiana Michigan Power. The letter has three specific complaints.

First, that I&M did not provide emergency services to certain utility plants and stations.

Second, that I&M made changes to the utility without consulting the city,

Third, that I&M hasn’t provided necessary information for the city to take back the utility and operate it again.

A spokeswoman for I&M said the company is not in default. She said they take the allegations seriously and will get back to the city on each point. I&M has until mid-October to officially respond to the letter of default.
