The Employee Free Choice Act is national legislation that would change the ways workers are able to form unions. Many workers support EFCA because they believe it will make it easier for workers to unionize and to stand up for themselves in a workplace. Opponents of EFCA say it will cut jobs and interfere in an employers ability to negotiate with employees as they form a union. Dave Altman is President of the Indiana Joint Board of Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union Council. Altman says, "With the economy the way that it is, so many are fearful of losing their jobs...they shouldnt be afraid to join a union, they have the right to." The Organized Labor-Labor Day Picnic is at Headwaters Park on Labor Day. It runs from 11-5. Both admission and food are free.
