Effects of Unemployment

Labor Day was organized to honor the achievements of American workers and the contribution they make to the country.
But many people marked this year's holiday with no job.
A recent survey from
More than half of survey respondents lost their jobs for the first time. For 60 percent, it happened with no warning.
The survey also discovered a psychological impact. More than half of respondents said they felt stressed, depressed, anxious, or helpless. Less than half said they felt motivated or hopeful.
One respondent said, "Nobody has called me in seven months. I don't feel important. I'm not contributing to family finances."
Another said, "...losing the ability to provide for my wife and myself is killing me emotionally."
