President Obama addresses School children ages Kindergarten to Twelfth grad Tuesday afternoon from Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. Prior to the speech some were concerned the President might have a hidden agenda. The speech was a motivator for kids to stay in school, work hard and find their interests. Concordia Lutheran High School says they didnt get any parent complaints prior to the speech. They wanted their students to hear what the President had to say. Terry Breininger, the Executive Director at Concordia Lutheran High School says “I think the President was right on. It was reminders that we all need from time to time that thing arent always easy. They are not always the way we want them to be, but we do have opportunities.” At Concordia Lutheran High School each teacher decided if they would have their class watch the presidential address during class. Breininger says “We have a school of professional educators. They have trained long and hard and we have confidence that they have the ability to handle any subject matter.” Teachers at Concordia Lutheran who had their class watch the speech used it for discussion and learning. Concordia Lutheran says the speech was purely a pep-talk. Breininger says “Other than the face that this was an educational speech from a President that has an educational department, beyond that I didnt hear any special political tones. It was an appropriate speech for young people.” President Ronald Reagan and President George Bush Senior also spoke to children across the county, encouraging them to work hard in school.
