City officials say there is no denying the TinCaps have helped boost Downtowns popularity. John Urbahns, the City’s Director of Community Development, says “We have heard from a number of businesses, local restaurants, and other businesses that they have see an up-tick even in these economic times in business, both on game days and non-game days.” Just because the baseball season is over doesnt mean Parkview Field wont stay buzzing. Michael Limmer, the TinCaps V.P. of Marketing, says “Its intended to be a 365 day a year facility. We have had over 100 events already since the ball park opened that werent TinCaps games.” As colder months approach, Parkview Field has the facilities to host banquets, company trainings and holiday events. Limmer says “We have a number of indoor facilities. We have a suite level lounge, a Lincoln Financial event center. We have our conference room which gets a lot of use in terms of meetings, and banquets and receptions. So those will continue to be used all throughout the year.” The stadium will stay open daily so visitors and those who like to walk about the stadium can still get their workout in. As for Harrison Square, construction will continue on the Courtyard Marriott Hotel. City officials say Calhoun Street construction and the Marriott should be closer to completion as baseball starts back up next year. All full time staff will continue working during the off season.
