Last year Wayne and Elmhurts program merged together but the Wayne Generals had lots to say about how this year everything is fitting together. Part of that is a new addition.

Wayne high school football is back this season with a new head coach and he brings discipline to the program.

"Disicpline in the classroom on the field off the field, all areas of their lives are going to be discipline. I'm excited to start a new wayne generals football program here," new coach Robert Brown said.

After merging with elmhurst high school last season the players are better adjusted.

"We were going under new coaching staff and the closing of Elmhurst and we were getting the Elmhurst kids, that being our rivalry game before, by the end of the season we were mostly pretty good, pretty close with each other," Senior Wide Receiver Kendan Lewis said.

Coach brown is giving them confidence for the upcoming season.

"We're gonna show how disicpline we really are, Coach Brown has come to make us really modest, it's a lot different then last year," expressed Lewis

"He has us pushing harder everybody wants to work now," said Junior Running Back Terrence Fincher.

The team has a large amount of freshman this year.

"Guys haven't played much varsity. Being under the lights, the band, the cheerleaders, the lights, the stands, things like that, I'm trying to create game like situations in practice so they won't freeze up come friday night," said Coach Brown.

"He's giving freshman the chance to play varsity. He gives everyone a chance to play their favorite position. If you're a freshman you could be playing on the varsity team this year," said Fincher.

"Freshman all over the place, starting varsity. We're very young this year and i want to see how those freshmen step up," expressed Lewis.

Coach Brown is eager to see how his team plays together and his players are anxious for the post season.

"It's too early to tell how good we're going to be. It's hard for me to tell since we've only played against ourselves but i'm looking forward to the next couple of scrimages. To see ya know how well we play against our opponent," said Brown.

"I think we have a pretty good chance to make it far in the playoffs actually. If we just discipline ourselves and do the little things," said Lewis.

"We're going to surprise a lot of people... We're going to surprise them with the size of our team and stuff. We're going to surprise them," said Fincher.

The Wayne Generals kick off their season August 19th on the road against Arsenal Tech. Hopefully the Titans will be ready for this new disciplined team.
