"Friday's scrimage was good it was a good learning experience for all the new guys. It was good for the new faces. Good experience and it was a good game," said Senior Quarterback Ryan Leiter.
"Defense was very sound. We let a few get past us but uh it's going to happen for a scrimage. We need to work on getting to the ball a little better and being more aggressive. Offense went alright, it could've been a little better, we're just getting the kinks out," said Senior Safety/Running Back Taylor Horn.
"We're excited about it. Everything defensively, we have some speed on that side of the ball and like i said with the scrimage, we're excited. Things are coming together here and we're excited to get the season started," said head coach Jared Sauder.
Team chemistry is a big factor heading into the season.
"A big thing for us is team chemistry, leadership from the seniors, so we're looking for that. Taylor Horn's doing a good job," expressed Sauder.
"Coaches are excellent. Teammates are great, a lot of team unity. Coaches are always getting at us,trying to make us better," Horn replied.
Coach Sauder says the offense is going to rely on quarter back Ryan Leiter.
"Our quarterback Ryan Leiter is a senior this year. He's doing a nice job picking up the leadership void."
Leiter replied, "last season was big for me because our starting quarter back, Andrew, went down with injury, and I started. It was a good learning process for me and helped me mature as a Quarterback. We had a lot of success last season and I think we build off of that success this season."
The lions say expectations are high for the season.
"You can expect an aggressive defense, we're really good on defense. We have a new offense but once we get that offense down, I think we will be pretty good," Leiter expressed.
"You can expect a lot of hard work, definetly always striving to win, never giving up, getting a lot of w's," said Horn.
"We're looking forward to it, looking forward to our seniors leading this team and seeing where we go," Coach Sauder said.
