The StarFires said Fridays scrimage against Norwell showed they have things working in their favor.

"Defensively we're looking pretty good, we look pretty quick. We're able to win the line of scrimage at times with our movement. We feel we got to the ball and we played pretty well," Head Coach Jason Arnold said.

"We played really well. It was our first time playing against a different team and offense and defense both went well. There are things that need to be cleaned up, but for our first game we played really well. Our defense is looking really crisp. We're really excited," Senior Linebacker Cole Farlow explained.

"Our defense, I thought, played really well, we had a lot of big hits, flying to the ball, no big plays for them, so we got to keep that going into the season," said Senior Quarterback Dustin Wanner.

Coach said his teams leadership and experience is going to give them an advantage.

"We feel that with the people we have returning that we can be competitive and build upon what we did last year with our six and six record. And the loss in the sectional championship."

Farlow agrees, stating that, "We look really good this year. We got 19 seniors. We're looking to go at teams hard with speed. We dont have a lot of size were gonna go at teams with a lot of speed and beat them to the outside. Run the ball down the field."

The players are focused on taking it day by day.

"One week at a time, one game at a time, that's how we're going to take it this year," Wanner explained.

"We've all been waiting for this for a long. We're looking to win every game that we can one week at a time," Farlow expressed.

The starfires said their dedication will pay off during the upcoming season.

"What you should expect from us, just to come out and play hard every week," Wanner said.

Arnold expressed that, "We feel good coming out of it, hopefully we can take that feeling and bring it into friday night against winchester. And hopefully we can do some good things with it. It's a lot of fun here on Fridays in the ACA."

South Adams kicks off their season this Friday against Winchester.
