Mobile Home Park Up For Sale

The trailer park where 9-year-old Aliahna Lemmon was brutally beaten to death is up for sale.

The nearly five-acre plot is part of a larger area going to auction in April.

According to the Allen County Sheriff's Department, at least 14 registered sex offenders currently live in the trailer park.

The land is being marketed as a commercial development property, which means if it sells, they would have to find somewhere else to live.

The Northway Mobile Home Park and the surrounding 16 acres of land will be auctioned April 14.

It's where police accuse Michael Plumadore of killing Aliahna Lemmon in December.

The Steffen Group is running the auction, and employees say if the land sells, the 14 sex offenders who live inside the mobile home park will have to move.

"The highest and best use for that property, with all that redevelopment that's going on, is going to be, kind of a commercial use," says Steffen Group Vice President Josh Lewis.

The 21 acre plot is just south of the new Parkview hospital on Dupont Road-- an area seeing rapid commercial growth.

Real estate experts say it's unlikely the mobile home park will remain.

"It'll probably be pretty challenging for the 14-15-16... However many we have today- that are living in that park to find new hosing because of the 1000 ft. Rule," Allen County Sheriff's Department Corporal Mike Smothermon.

Some considered the trailer park a landing spot for sex offenders, as it was well outside of the thousand-feet required away from any schools, parks, and daycares.

"At this point, it means nothing because the auction hasn't happened yet. The new owner, we don't know who that is or what their intent will be," Smothermon said.

Lewis says he's confident the land will sell-- and be re-developed for commercial use.

He says it could be the start of healing for those impacted by the crime of three months ago.

"I think this is a great thing for the property. I think it's going to give it a whole new start," says Lewis.

The whole 21 acre plot has been dubbed the Dupont Triangle, and is just south of the Carmike Cinema.

Lewis said the land is what makes this area so valuable, and the owners had already decided to sell it off before Aliahna was killed.
