Kathie Green is involved in the PTA, or Parents Teacher Association, both locally at Northrop and at a state level for several years. In April she will become involved in education on a national level as part of Mom Congress. Green said "I'm excited. I'm excited about the opportunity. I can't believe they choose me."
Mom Congress is an educational and learning conference geared toward building relationships between parents and their children. Green will join 51 other women in discussion panels, coursework and listening to speakers.
She says her goal is to learn strategies that will improve parent engagement. Green said "I'm curious to see what information they're going to give me that I can come back and talk about. So I already have the groundwork set on how to get information to parents feeding me more information that I can send out will be great."
Green says she'll tout Fort Wayne Community School's achievements over the past year while in D.C. She says she will also bring what she's learned at the conference to the PTA state convention in May.
