Local Business Booming in TinCaps' Shadow

Thousands of baseball fans flocked to Downtown Fort Wayne Thursday evening for opening day at Parkview Field. 2012 is the the Tincaps' fourth season at the downtown stadium.
Since 2009 well over one million fans have attended games at the ballpark -- officials say the added traffic downtown has added millions to the local economy.
"Over a third of these visitors are coming from outside Allen County," says Richard Davis of the Fort Wayne Downtown Improvement District. "That is a pretty big number and those people are spending between 30 and 50 dollars a piece downtown."
The Improvement District estimates revenue in the Hospitality and Food industry downtown has risen nearly 12 percent since the field opened in 2009.
