Too good to be true.
Fort Wayne City Council President Tom Smith wasn't the only one skeptical of a recent city contract. And it's not hard to be when the company involved makes a mistake on their bid, offering hundreds of thousands of dollars lower than what they meant to.
Cook's Tree Removal Service is a small company out of
The company meant to bid $900,000 for the project, but ended up bidding $600,000. Because of state law they couldn't submit a new offer, so they decided to attempt the project anyway. But, residents like Roy Sytsma are wishing the city had gone with a different company.
Sytsma will have to wait a little longer to see those trees hit the road.
Last month, Cook's told the city it couldn't follow through on the project. Now the city must go to the second highest bidder. And even worse than the delay, the city will now have to pay Mudrack Tree Experts double what they would have pay cook's to get the same job done.
The city is expected to vote on the new tree removal contract in the coming weeks.
