The Fort Wayne Police Department says they need your help with a growing problem that may be endangering your kids.

The police department says transportation directors from districts across the city have been increasingly concerned about people not adhering to the school bus arm that says stop.  They have been going or around or not stopping at all, putting children at risk of getting hit.

FWPD says the problem is the worst on streets that have 2 or four undivided lanes. Those are streets that have no median or barrier separating the street.

Parents on Rudisill they have definitely noticed a problem.  One parent says it happens at least 3 out of 5 days of the week on Illinois Road where she lives. She didn't want to show her face on camera but says what's most horrifying is that sometimes the rule-breakers are in semi-trucks.

The police department says it if caught, motorist can be ticketed, sentenced to 180 days in jail, or even fined $1,000 dollars.
