Romney Stumps in Defiance Ohio

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney spoke to thousands of reporters in Defiance, Ohio on Thursday.
A crowd of more than four thousand people gathered Thursday night on Defiance High School's football field for the show. The rally opened with a concert featuring "Meatloaf" and country duo Big 'n Rich.
The campaign stop was a crucial opportunity for the former governor to gain votes in Northwest Ohio -- Defiance is home to the General Motors Powertrain Assembly Plant. The Obama campaign has criticized Romney for his opposition to the government-backed auto bailouts.
Before Romney took the stage, Ohio Sen. Rob Portman addressed that issue, saying that Romney supported a government-backed loan program that differed from President Obama's approach.
The latest poll numbers show that Ohio is a crucial battleground for Romney. Averages compiled by RealClearPolitics.com currently show Romney trailing behind President Obama by roughly two points -- that's within the margin of error.
