A Fort Wayne teen is recovering after thieves stole his iPad and shot him in front of his home.

It happened around 9:30 Sunday morning near the corner of Palisade Drive and Salem Lane in Southeast Fort Wayne.

Police say the teen was working on his school-issued iPad when three men pulled up in a green van and approached him in his driveway. One of the men then took the iPad and ran off.

The 16-year-old then took off after the thief -- the man turned around and fired two shots, one of which struck the teen in his abdomen.

The teen was transported to the hospital in serious condition. He was listed in "good" condition Sunday afternoon.

Police describe the three suspects as black males, last seen driving a green van.
