Remembering Aliahna Lemmon

By: Charlie De Mar
Updated: December 22, 2012

It's been one year since Aliahna Lemmon's life was tragically taken.

Tonight community members gathered at the Fort Wayne elementary school she attended to honor her life.

A local group dedicated to keeping Aliahna Lemmon's legacy alive organized a vigil  to remember and celebrate  her life.

"I didn't know her family but it's important to keep the awareness going so this doesn't happen to other children," said Tina Cavanaugh, a member of wings of innocence.

Nine-year-old Aliahna Lemmon was murdered one-year ago by Michael Plumadore who was supposed to be babysitting.

For many, the vigil brought back the horrific details from a year ago.

"It was just heart wrenching because we all held on to hope and there was no hope to be held on to. It sickens me to know that somebody could harm a child," said Cavanaugh.
