A Tradition of Walking

Updated: December 25, 2012

With the winter weather rolling in, some people spent the holiday outdoors enjoying a little sunshine before the trails and paths are buried in snow.

"On Christmas morning it was such a beautiful morning I decided to come down to foster park and take a walk," said Dave Trapp, a holiday jogger.

Dave Trapp wasn't alone as many people ditched the warm fireplace and eggnog  and took advantage of the sunshine.  From Joggers to bicyclists people were thrilled to get some fresh air before the inclement weather rolls in

"It could be just a few degrees warmer but its been a beautiful morning," said Trapp.

Trapp is visiting from Sacramento and says he could get used to spending the holidays in the Hoosier state.

"The hospitality and the greetings from the people in Indiana is unbelievable.  Everybody says merry Christmas and that's just a little different than in California," said Trapp.

A number of images may come to mind when thinking about Christmas, but for one family WFFT spoke with, Christmas Day can only mean one thing.

This is our traditional after Christmas breakfast around Foster Park," said Jim Kelsey.

A tradition now in its' 12th year.

"You have to walk off the excess eggs and today it was sausage and Canadian bacon," said Kelsey.

Kelsey says he looks forward to the traditional walk every year, but at the end of the day it's more about spending the holiday with family.
