A Fort Wayne man went on craigslist looking for love. He posted an ad on craigslist saying that he was looking for a companion.  She showed up but he got a whole lot more than he bargained for.

24 year-old Angel Hicks was sentenced to 10 years in prison with 4 years suspended for allegedly mastermind a robbery through craigslist.  Her boyfriend, 26-year-old Jarmal Datcher was sentenced to 12 years last month.  Two years were suspended from his sentence.

Court records say Hicks met up with a guy on craigslist, danced for him while casing his house.  The next day she sent her boyfriend to rob the man.

Court papers say Datcher forced his way inside, holding the victim at gunpoint.

The victim told police he was "scared for his life and his heart was racing."  He told police Datcher said " i want the money and i will not hurt you."

Records say Datcher spent an hour looking for money and credit cards but turned up empty-handed.  He took the victims 2010 white Bmw and the victims checkbooks.

When police caught up with him a short time later, he confessed.

This incident happened back in august but the Fort Wayne police department says there were at least four robberies linked to Craigslist in the month of December.  Most robberies involve an item for purchase or for sale.

Sot: marjorie stephens, bbb, dec 2012

"if you could meet at a public place like a restaurant or mall where there are people around, that person isn't going to be as likely to try to rob you"

The BBB said they will not deter people from shopping on Craigslist but caution consumers about meeting up with strangers at your home.
