Neigbors along one Fort Wayne street say they're fed up with violence in their community. Around ten o'clock Saturday night, a man was taken to the hospital in serious condition along winter street.

Police say the incident started out as a verbal argument, and then one of the men pulled out a gun. Neighbors tell WFFT at least 20 shots were fired in the exchange.

"They started shooting so we all just hit the deck, just praying that none of the bullets came in and hit us," said a nearby resident who did not want to be identified. He was sitting inside with his family when the gunfire erupted.

According to police records at least a dozen shootings or reports of shots fired have been logged in that area just in the past two months.

"People have misfortunes so they want you to have misfortunes -- it seems like people don't care about each other anymore," says one resident.

At last check, police say the victim remains in serious but stable condition. A suspect description or name has not been released.
