One man is dead after crashing his car into the back of a semi-truck during the morning commute.

"I just know I heard a lot of crashing," said Carrol Weimer, a bystander.

Weimer drove through the intersection of Coliseum and Crescent seconds before the crash and saw the aftermath of the collision in her rearview mirror.

"I went through the light and saw the red vehicle," said Weimer.

A red Chevy Impala was going east on Coliseum, tried changing lanes, clipped a car waiting and slammed into the back of the semi-truck according waiting at the stop-light.  Lucas Goodmann was driving the Impala.  His Facebook says he was a student at Ivy Tech Community College.

"I don't have words to say," said Mark Kiproff, a bystander."

Kiproff was shaken up after seeing pieces of the red Chevy scattered across Coliseum Boulevard.

"It gives oneself pause to be thankful for life because to loose ones life this way is just a tragedy," said Kiproff.

Bystanders said all they could do was pray when they heard that the driver died.

"I said a prayer for the person that lost their life and just a moment of silence was all I had in me," said Kiproff.

"I would like to say a prayer for them that's all anybody can do for their family and friends and loved ones," said Weimer.

The Allen County Coroner's office says Goodman was not wearing his seatbelt .

He is the third person to die from a traffic accident this year.

The crash is still under investigation.
