Thousands marched through downtown today in support of ending abortion.  The annual march for life is in its 39th year in Allen county.

Today's event commemorated 40 years since Roe v. Wade which was the supreme courts decision to legalize abortion.  While decades have passed, attendees are hopeful that someday abortion will be outlawed.

"I don't believe tax payers should be funding abortion.  I respect the supreme court in its decision but I don't believe it was the right decision," said Congressman Marlin Stutzman.

Phillip Litchfield is part of a pro-life organization and says today's rally motivates him to continue spreading the pro-life message.

"It gives us a lot of hope to see everyone out here together for the reason to support life and it kind of strikes you at the heart," said Litchfield.

Although it's been 40 years since that Supreme Court decision, attendees say they are optimistic that one day Roe v Wade will be overturned.

Hopefully change will be coming soon and if we keep trying we know we can get somewhere," said Litchfield.
