Back in December, Dr. William Hedrick had his medical license suspended after the state attorney general says he allegedly over-prescribed pain medication to patients at his Centers for Pain Relief.
Dave Peconge of Fort Wayne says he has been a patient at the Fort Wayne facility for the past six years. On Wednesday, he was told by his new doctor there that Hedrick had prescribed him a dangerous regimen of pain pills.
"As far as my dosage, he compared it to [...] the kind of dose a cancer patient would be prescribed," said Peconge.
Following a back injury in 2007, Hedrick and his practitioners prescribed Peconge morphene and oxycodone to dull the pain caused by surgery. "My worst fear is that it's done some kind of damage," he says.
Dr. Hedrick is due back in court in February for a hearing that may determine the extent of his punishment in exchange for a guilty plea.
