Gas prices have risen for 32 days straight according to AAA. Here in Indiana we've seen some of the largest price increases.

Drivers in Indiana paid the second highest increase at the pump last month. Beth Mosher with AAA says the rising cost of crude oil and temporary closing of oil refineries both cause higher gas prices.

"They're closing refineries to get ready to switch over to that summer blend of gasoline," says Mosher.

The average price of gas this week in Fort Wayne is $3.64, up from $3.54 a week ago and $3.14 last month.

John Parks is a mechanic of 30 years and the owner of Parks Automotive. Parks says simple car maintenance can help you money at the pump.

"Check the tire pressure, make sure your breaks don't drag, make sure your car stays tuned up and simple things like keeping your air filter clean."

Two-thirds of the price of a gallon of gas comes from the price of crude oil, which has jumped 10% in the last month according to the Energy Information Administration.
