A Bluffton man is searching for the owner of a postcard that was sent to his house -- it was mailed out 65 years ago.

Ron Thompson said the postcard came in with his regular mail on February 1st. The card was postmarked January 31st, 1948 in West Palm Beach, Florida, addressed to a Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mosher.

It's very hard to read the handwriting on the card, but it appears it was sent by a couple writing home to their kids while they were on vacation. Thompson says he's only lived in the home for three years and doesn't know who the previous owners are.

WFFT contacted the U.S. Postal Service looking to track down the intended owner, but officials said that would probably not be possible.

They said while the card may have been lost in the mail all that time, the likely answer is a bit less interesting. A spokesperson said the card may have been purchased by a collector at a flea market who then put it in the mail. For unknown reasons, the postal service processed it as a regular parcel.

Thompson says if it really was lost in the mail, he'd be happy to turn it over to the intended recipients or their family. We'll put you in touch with him if you give us a call.
