Budget Woes and Bills Go Up

City officials say Fort Wayne will soon run into a deficit if cuts are not made and revenues are not increased. The problem, says Mayor Henry, stems from a statewide mandate passed in 2008 that caps the amount of property tax a city can levy.
Officials say the cap has meant that the city has been unable to raise the revenue it needs. During a press conference Monday, officials outlined a plan to raise local income taxes and city utility bills to raise additional revenue.
