New jobs and putting local teens and college students to work was Governor Pence's message at the 80/20 factory this afternoon.
Governor pence's regional works counsel proposal was recently approved by the senate. The legislation is aimed at better preparing students for vocational jobs.
"There are a great number of jobs in this state that are not going filled because people don't have the background and the skills and education to fill them," said Pence.
Pence says the regional works proposal will fill the so-called skills gap.
"I want young people in Whitley County to have access to the kind of background and training for a career where they could apply for a job at a place like 80/20 and get hired," said Pence.

To prepare students for vocational jobs,80/20 recently started an educational partnership with high schools in Whitely County and Ivy Tech.
"As you grow more great positions are going to be available and we need great people to fill them," said Wood.
"I think everyone understands that to get our economy moving again statewide we've got to forge better partnerships statewide with business and our high schools locally," said Pence.
