Mothers day is almost here- for many teen moms who come from abusive homes, it is a painful day. Whitington Home is a residential program in Ft. Wayne that helps troubled teenage girls turn their lives around. The home is primarily funded by the state. Beth Kennedy has been working with the program for 26 years. She says the home helps girls to break cycles of abuse and to get themselves on solid footing. The home currently has 13 girls, ten of whom are moms. Babies live at the home with their moms. In addition to state funding, Whitington Homes relies on donations. It is holding a fundraiser next Saturday. The Whitington Wings Mother-Daughter Brunch is Sat., May 9th, from 10 am to noon at the First Presbyterian Church downtown. Tickets cost 25$ and proceeds benefit the home. To buy tickets call 260-745-9431.
