Goodbye memorial stadium hello new parking lot. Let the auction begin. “There are no reserves, no prices. Items will sell to highest bidder,” says auctioneer Mike Roy. Anything and everything you see will be up for auction tomorrow. From chairs to beer holders and bleachers to bases many came out to Memorial Stadium today to preview the goods. Jerry and Pat Williams had their eyes on a few things but really seemed into a couple of computer chairs. Jerry immediately sat down in one and was sold. "Yeah they are very comfortable, I’m going to have to consider one of these," says Williams. While some where there to browse the goods, others just came by simply to visit the stadium one last. Former Wizards Fan Bob Benhower notes that he’s been coming to games here for years and sitting in these seats. He wanted to come back one last time. Overall turnout is expected to very good tomorrow. Calls have even been coming in from neighboring states like Michigan, with questions about the sale. So what is the biggest ticket item? That would be the aluminum bleachers. What about the most popular item? Surprisingly it’s the picnic tables. Now what is the strangest item? Try a goose cannon. A goose cannon was used during games at Memorial Stadium that emits a loud noise to scare geese away from the field. Parking will be free to all guests for the auction. Food and drinks will also be available. The auction opens tomorrow at 9 am gates open at 7:30 am
