The St. Joseph Community Health Foundation is giving away almost half a million dollars in grant money to dozens of local agencies. The grants will be used to improve health care for low-income, underinsured, and uninsured people.
The foundation’s director, Meg Distler, says agencies with a strong track record of providing quality medical assistance were considered for the money. In the end, 38 agencies will split $426,870 in local grants.
One of the agencies receiving money is Healthier Moms and Babies. FOX Fort Wayne has the story of a teenage mom and her baby son whose lives are a little better because of it.
