Over one-hundred people came out to Taylor University here in Fort Wayne tonight. They voiced their opinions on the future of land, where the now closed University sits. Many of the attendees represented either a neighboring educational institution or a non-profit organization. All hoped to put their bids in for the land. Several round table discussions addressed questions like “What is ideal for this property ten years down the line?”

Popular suggestions for the land included: a vocational center, a location for higher education, a Charter School and also a senior center, something lacking on the south part of the city.

The University hired Ambassador Family Enterprises to run tonight's forum. Garrett Cooper from the firm says they've received an overwhelming interest in the land for the past month in a half.

“It seems to be that the education use is the highest and best use so far but not presuming that would be the final answer” says Cooper.

“We don't know all the ins and outs of it, but we do know that Cornerstone Prep needs to be here part of the Rudisill project because of its history” says Sharron Underwood of Cornerstone Prep.

Bids on the campus land will be discussed now through October. They then will be presented to a Taylor University board for consideration. A decision is expected to be made by next January, but could be made sooner.
