Dr. Steve Yager is the new superintendent for the Southwest Allen County School District. The announcement came from the school board tonight. The board also approved a five-year contract for Yager. Dr. Yager is leaving the Northwest Allen County School district where he has been Superintendent for 19 years. He replaces Dr. Brian Smith who left this month for a job in Indianapolis. Smith had held his position for 11 years. School board president, John Bloom, says Yager approached the board about the position once it was open. Bloom believes Yager is the "perfect fit" for the job. Bloom also says parents should expect the coming school year to be "business as usual." Yagers first day at SWAC schools will be July 13th. His last day at NWAC schools will be July 10th.
