Today Mayor Tom Henry released details on his proposal to move the citys headquarters from the City- County Building to Renaissance Square. Among the new details, the city will acquire two additional pieces of property in addition to the main building and potentially some free parking for citizens. The additional pieces of property included in the deal are a parking lot adjacent to the Renaissance Square building and a lot located next to the old city hall on Barr Street. The new plans also indicated a parking garage which could be rented for secure storage and parking of police vehicles. The city would have to lease the spots which would cost an estimated 120K$ in 2010. Todays details came just a day before the Mayors meeting with County Commissioners where they are expected to discuss concerns over the proposed move. Mayor Tom Henry says todays announcement is in no way a reflection of tomorrows meeting and that he is open to hearing all concerns in order to decide on the best route.
